Stoddert Campus Breaks Ground
Just off of DC’s famed ‘Embassy Row’ on a heavily wooded and sloping site in the Glover Park neighborhood, the historic Stoddert Elementary School serves one of the most diverse populations in the city. It is recognized as one of the best public schools in the District, and the continued success of its 300 students is directly attributable to the support of dedicated teachers, parents, and the community at large.
Our modernization and expansion of the Stoddert Elementary campus will reinforce this sense of community by creating a building that can serve as both a school and a community center. A new 40,000 gsf addition will create a new secure and accessible front door for the school that responds to the context surrounding the site and reinforces the civic presence of the school. The new addition will also provide new classroom and multipurpose space that, when combined with the fully modernized 1932 building, will more than triple the size of the existing school.
