On The Rise: New Brunswick Transit Village
The New Brunswick Transit Village is a building that goes the distance, reflecting a joint planning effort by the university and Village of New Brunswick by providing:
- A major new entrance to the historic Rutgers campus
- A front door for a growing downtown
- Full integration of town and gown at the most strategic location for both the town and the campus
- A campus brand by moving the bookstore and some university offices
- Much needed workforce housing for the university and a furthering of an emerging mixed-use district at the campus’ gates
- Parking
Importantly, the building is also a good neighbor to the existing historic district, including the significant church next door, by stepping the massing down on the lower portion.
