EE&K’s design for Circle Center successfully introduced a regional shopping mall into an historic downtown setting, adjacent to Indianapolis’ Monument Circle. The design for Circle Centre works within the City’s civic tradition of grand streets and distinct public spaces, by allowing Downtown’s street grid to continue uninterrupted and sensitively restoring several blocks of historic facades. Linking the retail complex’s four blocks is the Indianapolis Artsgarden — a soaring glass public pavilion for the arts that has become one of the city’s major cultural destinations.
