Shanghai, China

EE&K Architects created a master plan for a new mixed-use neighborhood spanning seven city blocks in downtown Shanghai. The plan accommodates the city’s growing demand for new housing while creating public environments and a sense of community. The residential units are clustered around a connected system of parks that contain groves of trees, lawns, and small water features. Most residences are located in more intimately scaled mid-rise buildings and townhouses rather than high rise towers.

Street-level retail lines the key streets, and a commercial center with a new transit facility, hotel, office space, and retail serves as a gateway to the neighborhood. A new 2.8 acre public park and clubhouse provides a public amenity at the center of the site.
